I am a native of southern California, born In Palm Springs and raised 30 minutes north in a small town nestled in the mountains of Yucca Valley. As a middle child and only girl 13 months between two boys, sports and a love for physical activity became ingrained in my lifestyle very early on. Throughout High School I participated in Soccer, Basketball, Cross Country and Track and field until I graduated Yucca Valley High School in 2004. Upon graduation, I attended College of the Desert as a Liberal Arts Major before transferring to a private methodist college known as Iowa Wesleyan University. While attending Iowa Wesleyan University, I discovered the ability to combine my passion for teaching and taking on the leadership roll with sports and physical activity which is where I began to major and pursue my B.A in physical education.During my time at Iowa Wesleyan, I was a proud student athlete as part of the women's soccer and track and field team. As apart of the women's track team, I held the position of indoor and outdoor conference champion in both the triple and long jump three years in a row before medically redshirting my senior year of competition.
After obtaining my degree from Iowa Wesleyan December 2009, I returned home to California where I transferred my teaching credential and began to pursue my Masters of Teaching with a specialization in Best practices through National University. I graduated from National University with my Masters of teaching in 2011 and began my first year of substitute teaching in all subjects grades K-12.
When I am not in the classroom, you can find me coaching the Golden Valley middle school cross country team, enjoying some form of physical activity at the gym or with my daughter in the great outdoors. I am excited to be your physical education instructor for where I will have the ability to not only positively impact the lives of students daily by encouraging children to develop lifelong healthy lifestyles as well as create a flexible learning environment that will effectively develop, sustain and enhance the skills necessary for our students to become lifelong learners and productive citizens.
